To
support Cancer Research UK's work fighting this dreadful disease, in
2003 Fiona Castle gave her blessing to and agreed to become the
patron of Encore's new Roy Castle Fund. Since then we have been
able to raise funds through the magazine’s annual Theatre Awards
Presentation Lunch as well as through special events such as the Encore
ShowTalk exhibitions, The Encore Laughter Link National Comedy Contest
and the Encore Talking Theatre Reception at the Houses of Parliament.
Since 2003 Encore has also presented the Roy Castle Golf
Challenge at Epsom Golf Club.
Supporting
all the these events are the contributions from individuals giving
theatre talks, running marathons and even the auctioning of donated
pictures and autographed footballs (the Chelsea squad).
Several school shows by the young pupils of M*M
DanceCraft have also resulted in significant sums being raised for the
fund in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Reports
on these events and the sums raised appear regularly in the magazine.
Meanwhile, we were delighted when Fiona Castle was awarded the M.B.E. in
the Queen's Birthday Honours List (June 2004) for her unstinting work in
raising money for charity - particularly for her dedication for the
anti-smoking campaign.

main menu on this page (above) displays more about the fund raising
for our adopted charity...
