HAPPY SNAPS OF A GREAT DAY... |

Pictured
from the top (left) is Encore editor PETER G FOOT greeting TOM PLUMMER,
while CHRIS HARE (left) looks on. In the background SIR NORMAN WISDOM
makes his entrance.
Our next picture shows a packed Arnhem Gallery Bar as many of the
guests exchange greetings. The picture below that shows singer ROSE
MARIE receiving the framed poster of a Jewell & Warriss Show
showbill donated by MAGGIE STREDDER (second from right) who was a member
of the Vernon Girls featured on that bill. Also pictured (from left) are
TOM and PATRICIA O’CONNOR, King Rat KAPLAN KAYE and (far right) JOHNNY
MANS. Johnny superbly conducted the auction and the bidding for the
showbill closed with Rose Marie’s offer of £170.00, which helped to
boost the Roy Castle Fund in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Bottom-left captures vocalist JULIE ROGERS and guitarist BERT
WEEDON on the Marshall Amplification table. Sadly, host Dr. JIM MARSHALL
was absent, still recovering from a recent illness in hospital.
In our top-right picture, our photographer has captured the
Arnhem Gallery ghost! He made a surprise appearance during a rendition
of ‘Just One More Chance’ by ALF PEARSON and KAPLAN KAYE on stage.
The picture below shows - from the left - PETE LANGFORD of The
Barron Knights - presumably hiding behind the table number in terror of
the ghost, while Epsom Playhouse manager TREVOR MITCHELL and Encore’s
‘Swingtime’ columnist SHEILA TRACY show no fear.
Bottom-right - our picture captures King Rat KAPLAN KAYE (left)
and 96-years-young ALF PEARSON enjoying giving that magnificent
performance of the now traditional Water Rats’ ‘Just One More
Chance’ routine. Bravo! |
